The Carolina
Carillon Holiday Parade
The 58th Annual Carolina
Carillon Holiday Parade will be held on
Saturday, December 3rd, 2011, on Gervais
Street in downtown Columbia. The theme
"Winter Wonderland" will
feature dozens of floats, marching bands,
drill teams, and live performances.
The parade will begin
at 9:45 a.m. at Gervais and Bull Streets
and proceed west on Gervais, pass in
front of the State House, and continue
into the Vista to Park Street. (Parade Map )
Our Grand Marshal for this year’s parade is...
A Salute to our Armed Forces!
WIS-TV begins live
coverage of the parade at 10 a.m. from
their broadcasting area located on the
corner of Main and Gervais, right across
the street from the State House. This
telecast reaches over 40 counties in
South Carolina as the Carillon is
considered not only the Capitol City's
premier parade but the official holiday
parade of South Carolina.
With nearly 100
entries, the Carillon featured a number
of new entries last year, including Wells
Fargo, and Miss Carolina Carillon. This
year again, there will be high school
drill teams & marching bands, local
churches, clowns, dozens of beautiful
floats, live animals, and, of course, the
most important part of the parade, Santa
Claus.
